Morning all!
I'm still running on US time, so to me it's 9am atm, whereas it's actually 2:10pm. Gah! And only 3 days left to readjust before I go back to work.
That'll be fun...

America was brilliant, and I loved every minute of it and I can't wait to go back again (hopefully in 3 years).
Anyhoo, I've added a twitter feed which I can update fairly often using a twitter app for the iPod, so you can read the updates either on the site here or over on my twitter page (not much there atm).

Really enjoying WoW still, which I'm rather pleased about tbh, because I thought by now I'd have got bored of it to at least some degree, but no!

So I've recently hit level 30, which is the level now at which you can purchase your first mount in WoW, as it used to be 40 until a few months back:

That's a black Hawkstrider I'm sitting on, beating Bernie Clifton in the style stakes at least
Aaaaanyway, Thursday (28th) sees me jumping on a 757 New York bound on my way to Atlanta!
I'll be gone for 2 weeks, so expect nada from me until the 13th June at least, US internet access notwithstanding

Duke Nukem For(n)ever? |

Unbelievable.
In short, 3D Realms, the guys behind Duke Nukem 3D and the interminably long-in-development-vapour-ware poster boy Duke Nukem Forever have gone belly up.
Unbelievable.
This is like iD Software going tits up. Valve even. 3DR to me is/was one of those companies I thought would be safe in the recession, but apparently not.
Will DN4 ever see the light of day now? After 12 years of development, several changes of engine and thereby several restarts?
It doesn't look like it. Which is a shame. But to be honest, after all these years (hell it was announced when I was 21 ffs - I'm 34 in 4 months!) in development, could it ever possibly have lived up to the hype?
Likely not, but it still would've been fun to play.

To make matters worse, Take Two have nixed any chance of 3DR getting funding from an alternative publisher to see the game through to completion:
"We can confirm that our relationship with 3D Realms for Duke Nukem Forever was a publishing arrangement, which did not include ongoing funds for development of the title," said Take-Two's mouthpiece Alan Lewis.
"In addition, Take-Two continues to retain the publishing rights to Duke Nukem Forever."
In other words, they won't pay to get the game completed, and they won't let any other publisher have it.
Bloody suits.

Full speed ahead Mr Coppernut! |

Bwahahahaha!

Last post about my speedy line, promise
Anyway, still enjoying WoW so far, and have rejoined my old Guild on Kilrogg, Thunder. This is mainly for the social aspect, as the time commitments for nightly raiding are very much beyond my means or desires.
So my mage is lvl 20 so far, and has switched to a Frost spec, mainly for AoE and crowd control. Which should be fun at higher levels
Talking of MMO's, City of Heroes pseudo sequel Champions Online has been given a release date of Independance Day, July 14th. Which, according to current beta testers, is worrying, because by all their NDA-breaking accounts is in no fit state to release anytime soon. Yet another example of Atari games being rushed to meet deadlines?
Ok, so there's still a couple of months yet before the game goes gold, but I'm sure the beta testers are aware of that, and yet they're still worried?

I've never received a beta invite as yet, despite applying way last year. Cryptic even PM'd current CoX players to invite them to beta test, when there were still hundreds of CO forumites still awaiting a chance at beta.
Maybe if I still played CoX I'd have got in quicker?

Solid as a (un-northern) rock |

Well the Be connection is absolutely rock solid. Best connection I've ever had, and I'm not just talking about speed.
It's been connected now for a solid 6 days with no re-sync. Previously I'd get to about 4 days at best then it'd need to re-sync.
And I've realised why Be are able to get faster speeds - it's actually ADSL2+ they're using in my exchange. BT aren't installing that until March next year ffs! So 5Mb is the quickest I'll get until Fibre starts getting rolled out nation-wide in about 2 years or so.
But I'm more than happy with this connection atm. Just downloading the 8.10 desktop CD version of Ubuntu to install on our laptop. 700Mb in 16 minutes.
Get in!
